Why Johnny Gimble stop playing with Willie Nelson?
Curious if anyone knows, because I do not. He played with Willie Nelson for about 4 years I think (soon 80). So close. Why?
Johnny never stop to play with Willie. They had numerous collaborations with Willie violin as a musician Johnny the albums with him, the last of which only 2,007 in the last race with Merle Haggard and Ray Price. He has appeared in numerous shows with Willie and albums about 12-14. Probably the best reason for his absence from every studio album that Willie would have ventured into a different territory, but when it came to some Western swing, you could bet and Johnny worked together when their schedules permitted. From what I understand they are great friends and great respect for others. Johnny was introduced to Django Reinhardt was on tour with Willie Willie in the early '80s, before his own training group and solo.
