Which loss was worse, the Rays to the Mariners after blowing a lead. or the Red Sox to the Yankees?
The Rays blew a 4 to 1 lead and ended up losing 6 to 7. The Red Sox and Yankees were tied until the 15th inning with 0 runs until A-rod hit a home run. Which is worse to you that, or the Rays loss?
Just basing it on game to game in a vacuum I like the write in vote for the SF loss. You can’t waste a Lincecum start vs. a team like the Reds.
Taking all circumstances into account, however, it has to be the Red Sox who are taking it on the chin psychologically every time they turn around. First you have the steroid issue blowing up tarnishing their world series rings. Next you have them slipping in the standings. Third, you have the string of victories broken by the Yankees. Fourth, you lose the game in dramatic fashion to your most heated rival a day after the streak is broken, thus beginning a new streak in the wrong direction. This season is gettting away from them in a way that could take weeks or months or years to turn around.
4/13/08: Dice-k, Red Sox win over Yankees
