What happens if Padres, Rockies, Mets, and Phillies all finish with 89 wins?
How do the tiebreakers work? How is the NL East decided? How is the NL Wildcard decided?
First, Mets at Phillies to decide the East. Then Padres and the Mets/Phillies loser play (in SD). The winner of that game would host the Rockies to determine the wildcard (the Rockies had the option to host two games or go on the road to play the winner of the first wildcard tiebreaker – I believe that they chose one road game instead of two home games).
There would be tiebreaker games on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
In theory, the Mets could play Sunday in NY, Monday in Philly, Tuesday in SD, Wednesday back in NY, and then Thursday in Phoenix.
