How come people here haven’t been talking about the hottest team in baseball?
Now, I know that the Baltimore Orioles are way out of the playoff race, but they’ve won eight of nine since Showalter became the manager. In that stretch they swept the Angels and took three of four from the White Sox. Every aspect of the game seems to have improved. Whatever Showalter did to get those boys going, I’m liking it.
BQ: Could the Orioles be next year’s breakout team?
Yup, this is exactly why I was calling for Lou Piniella’s head back in May. Change is always a good thing for a team that can’t seem to win baseball games. The players are beliving they can win, and that’s 1/2 the battle.
BQ: No. I mean, they could win like 73-74 games next year, but I honestly don’t see the talent on that team to win any more than that. Buck is a great manager that has never gotten enough respect.
