My mother passed away on Friday June 13. Of course I didnt go to work.?
And now my employer says that I will not be paid for taking off. Is it not some kind of law that states that employees get grevience pay? And also does anyone know of any one ot contact for help with burial expeneses? She was quite young and had no insurance. Please help.
Hi, i am very sorry about you losing your mum. Your boss sounds like an oxygen thief!!!!!! I was a union rep for quite a while. It really comes down to what type of award you are operating on. Generally there is a clause that covers berievment leave of up to 5 days. I reiterate depends on what award your on. If your a member of a union they will be able to tell you , if not you will have to search yourself and the best place to start is legal aid. Pay $5 and get a legal opinion from a pro. If you are having trouble with the burial expenses you could try some of the local community groups in your area Lions are pretty good to mention one of many of the fantastic voluntary organisations .
