Is Red Sox/Yankees a friendly rivalry compared to Dodgers/Giants hate?
The Dodgers & Giants throw at each other all the time but i hardly see the Red Sox/Yankees go after each other. Is their rivalry a friendly one where the Dodgers literally despise the Giants?
I can’t imagine a rivalry being for intense than Yankees/Red Sox – from a fans point of view.
I don’t think any sports rivalry is all that intense from a players point of view, especially the way players change teams so often in this day and age. Even if you go back half a century, when Joe DiMaggio was playing for the Yanks, his brother Dom was playing for the Red Sox. Don’t misunderstand me here (I don’t need the “thumbs down”) – the competition between the Yanks and Sox is very intense, and fighting for the AL East title every year, tempers will flair up time and again, but once the game is over, it’s not like they’re going to punch it out under the grandstand or anything.
I think Jerry Seinfeld was right when he said “We’re all really just cheering for the laundry” meaning we are rooting for the uniform, not necessarily the players in it.
