Dave Matthews Band Tickets – NFL Kickoff Performance
The Dave Matthews Band is scheduled to perform Sept. 9 at the NFL kickoff special in New Orleans’ Jackson Square. The pre-game concert will usher in the start of the season with a matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings. DMB is planning to perform a set, as is country-pop sensation Taylor Swift. Headliners in the past have included Keith Urban, the Black Eyed Peas, Usher and Tim McGraw.
The Dave Matthews Band is currently on the road supporting their latest studio effort, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King, which has garnered attention from both fans and critics and even received a Grammy nomination earlier in the year. Fans though will have to purchase Dave Matthews Band tickets soon, because the group will be taking a hiatus from touring in 2011.
In addition to providing the entertainment for the NFL kickoff, the Dave Matthews Band is also signed up to perform at this year’s Farm Aid concert. The benefit show will be held on Oct. 2 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s Miller Park. In addition to DMB, other artists appearing on the stage will include Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp, as well as Norah Jones, the BoDeans, Amos Lee, Kenny Chesney and Jason Mraz. Farm Aid first started in 1985 and was held in an effort to help raise money for struggling family farmers.
The Dave Matthews Band has been active on the music scene since releasing their debut effort with RCA Records in 1994. Under the Table and Dreaming immediately became a huge hit for the group and won them plenty of fans on college campuses around the U.S. Hit singles from the record included “What Would You Say,” “Ants Marching” and “Satellite.” Their popularity was further solidified when it reached the number two spot on the Billboard Albums chart.
The band produced their sophomore set two years later when they released Crash, which was another success on the charts, spinning off five popular singles. One of the songs, “Crash into Me” was nominated for a Grammy Award that same year.
One of the things that has made the jam band so popular over the years is their rigorous touring schedule. As a result, they have captured many of their live shows on albums like Live at Red Rocks, Live at Folsom Field, Live at Luther College and the DMB Live Trax Series. These CDs provided an opportunity to hear and feel the energy of a live show while at home or in your car.
Other studio albums that the band released in the following years included Before These Crowded Streets, Everyday, Busted Stuff, Stand Up and, finally, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King.
